Licensed Professional Counselor
Karen was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. She studied at Baylor University, and obtained her undergraduate degree from University of Texas. She also holds a Masters of Education in Counseling degree from Dallas Baptist University. Karen is a Licensed Professional Counselor, and has a Supervisor’s License. She spent the first 15 years of her counseling career working with teenagers and their families. Karen has a Child Care Administrator’s License, is certified in pre-marital counseling, and is certified in trauma recovery from The National Center for Child Traumatic Stress. After finding healing and freedom from her own 10-year battle with alcohol addiction, Karen is passionate about helping others transform their lives. She incorporates truths from the Bible into a Cognitive Behavioral framework to provide practical answers and insights to her clients. Karen specializes in relational issues, trauma/abuse, addiction, depression, identity issues, abortion recovery and overcoming one’s own mental pitfalls (such as, guilt, shame, or self-loathing). As a national speaker, Karen provides training for churches, prison inmates and staff, counseling teams, and many lay care groups. She teaches a women’s Bible Study class and is active in other areas of her church. Karen loves spending time with her family and friends, traveling with her husband, grilling outdoors and reading.
